About AERS
Established in September 2002, Australian Ecological Research Services Pty Ltd is a relatively small ecological consultancy company, based in Portland Victoria, specialising in flora and fauna research. Principal consultant, Dr Matthew Wood has acquired substantial experience in flora and fauna research and survey techniques, and has particular expertise in macropod ecology having completed a Ph.D. researching the ecology of Red-necked Wallabies, Black Wallabies and Eastern Grey Kangaroos. Dr Wood is a member of the Australian Mammal Society, Australasian Wildlife Management Society and Australasian Bat Society. Recent experience has been obtained in the analysis of recorded micro-bat calls using Anabat detectors during a long-term monitoring program of bat presence and activity at the proposed wind farm sites near Portland. An extensive reference collection of calls from all bat species in South-west Victoria has been developed.
Australian Ecological Research Services currently employs staff on a casual basis who are highly qualified in specialist fields of ecology. Compared to larger City-based firms, we have lower overheads and are therefore able to provide our clients with very competitive rates.
